Recipe from "Fong Kit": Hakka Yam Abacus

Ingredients

  • Water chestnuts
  • Spring onions
  • Small onions
  • Chinese parsley
  • Minced pork
  • Minced fish (fishcake)

Methods

Chop and mix everything with seasme oil, pepper powder, 5 spices powder, cornflour.

Fill beancurd skin with mixture, wrap and roll, steam 10 – 15 minutes.

To know when it is cooked, just use your finger. If it doesn’t give then it means it is cooked.

This one sounds really unusual, and delicious! I also love the earthiness of being advised to test whether it is cooked with your fingers! Typical Hakka practicality!
